The pool deck is the area that surrounds your pool. It is important for many reasons. First off, it creates the overall look of your pool area. Deciding on the aesthetic that you want is key when picking a material and style to have installed. With many varieties to choose from your options are very open! Next up, it is constantly dealing with water, so must be a material that will withstand that challenge daily. All of the materials that we use for pool decks, are long lasting and durable, keeping up their initial installation appearance for many decades to come.
What are the components of your deck area?
Your pool deck will comprise of the pool deck itself and pool coping. These are two different things. The decking is the larger area that surrounds your pool. It will have space to accommodate items such as furniture and will be the ‘living space’ of the area. Pool coping is usually around 12 inches wide and is the cap that sits on the edges of the pool. It is the bridge between the pool itself and your decking. Both are available in a variety of materials and where the deck will commonly be wood, concrete or pool pavers, the coping is usually concrete or another material such as natural stone or brick.
Types of pool decks
There are many different types of pool decks. The variants include size, material, style and color. We highly recommend travertine pavers (see below), as they are so versatile and durable. We also work with other materials including wood, or composite wood, which is a synthetic material that has the appearance of natural wood but the qualities of a plastic-based material. Other options such as stone, pavers and tiles are available to suit your aesthetic preferences!
A travertine pool deck is an excellent choice of material. They are our most commonly chosen material for pool decks in Keller, TX and we highly recommend it as a beautiful and durable option. The natural stone pavers are usually 1 1/4” thick so will be strong and able to withstand the daily wear and tear that your pool side requires. It deals exceptionally well with water and provide a stable non-slip surface when it comes into contact- thereby improving your pools safety. They come in a variety of styles, patterns and colors, so you can tailor the area to a safe and durable space that looks exactly how you want it.
